Trump Could Be the First Person to Turn a Profit on a Used Tesla in Years TechTricks365

It appears Donald Trump has moved to the “getting rid of your ex’s stuff” portion of his breakup with Elon Musk. White House officials confirmed to the New York Post on Friday that Trump plans to sell his recently purchased Tesla. Given the potential collector’s value of the car, it could be the first used Tesla to actually be sold for a profit in a hot minute.

Trump bought the red Model S back in March during what could be described as a thinly disguised Tesla advertisement shot in front of the White House. Back then, Tesla was the subject of mass protests across the country, a response to Musk’s efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency to fire federal employees and cancel contracts for things like housing assistance and cancer research. At the time, Tesla’s stock price was starting to feel the crunch of public pressure, and Trump threw Musk a bone by giving his company a very public vote of confidence.

Since then, the car has mostly sat in the White House parking lot, available for staffers to use, per the Post. Trump hasn’t driven it due to security concerns, and also because he just doesn’t drive much other than a golf cart. So hey, at least the buyer knows there aren’t many miles on the thing. The down side for Trump is there is lots of competition on the secondary market, as people have ditched the brand in recent months and the resale value has tanked.

Frankly, compared to the way the rest of the very public split has played out, Trump’s decision to quietly sell the Tesla rather than making a big spectacle of it (so far, at least) seems almost mature. Of course, when the bar is set at implying your ex-partner is a pedophile, it’s not hard to come off as the more reasonable one. There was even word last night from Politico that Trump might be open to sitting down with Musk to repair the relationship, but that window appears closed on Friday, as NBC reported Trump is not interested in taking Musk’s calls.

Musk has largely quieted down since he dropped his “bomb” on Trump, accusing him of being in the Epstein files—likely not based on any actual new information that he has, but the fact that numbers and addresses associated with Trump appeared in Jeffery Epstein’s “Little Black Book” that was published by Gawker in 2015.

But the fallout of the split has hit right-wing influencers hard, forcing them to pick a side or try fence-sitting for as long as their audience will allow them to. Things are still shaking out, but it looks like Trump got CatTurd in the divorce, while Musk got Ian Miles Cheong. Alex Jones has declared himself “team humanity,” probably because the more profitable grift hasn’t revealed itself yet.
