Tamil Maanila Congress to boycott MK Stalin’s all-party meet on delimitation and 3-language row | Mint TechTricks365

The Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) has announced that it will not participate in the upcoming all-party meeting on delimitation, which the DMK-led Tamil Nadu Government has called for March 5.

The meeting, aimed at discussing the issue of delimitation, comes amid ongoing debates and concerns surrounding potential changes to the electoral boundaries and their implications for the state.

The TMC’s decision to boycott the meeting has added to the tension surrounding the political discourse in the state, particularly in light of the ongoing three-language row.

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai informed Chief Minister MK Stalin in a letter on Saturday that his party will boycott the all-party meeting convened on March 5.

On Friday, Stalin urged the people to “rise” to defend the state in a fight against the delimitation of constituencies and the three-language policy.

Sharing a video message, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said that the state is confronting two critical challenges: language and the fight against delimitation.

Earlier this week, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said at a BJP programme in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, that the delimitation process will not disadvantage the southern states.

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin underlined his commitment to state autonomy, two-language policy and opposition to Hindi imposition as his birthday message.

Stalin, who cut a cake with his family members and party workers, administered to cadres an oath of “one goal” to protect Tamil Nadu’s interests and oppose Hindi imposition at all times to come. “Tamil Nadu poradum, Tamil Nadu Vellum,” (Tamil Nadu will fight, Tamil Nadu will win) Stalin said, which was repeated by party workers.

What are the three languages in NEP?

As per the National Education Policy document, the three-language formula will “continue to be implemented while keeping in mind the Constitutional provisions, aspirations of the people, regions, and the Union, and the need to promote multilingualism as well as promote national unity.”

“There will be a greater flexibility in the three-language formula, and no language will be imposed on any State,” the education policy document said.

The policy document says that the languages in the three-language policy will be based on the choices of states, regions and the students provided two of the three languages are native to India.
