Songs of Silence is a unique strategy proposition. It’s got some 4X and turn-based DNA alongside absolutely gorgeous Art Nouveau visuals, all wrapped up in a card system that helps you control the flow of battle. It’s a little Master of Magic and Age of Wonders, but with enough updates to constantly keep you coming back for more. Now, the game’s Steam demo has been improved and expanded, and future patches are looking very impressive.
If you’ve never played Songs of Silence, this revamped demo is the perfect excuse. Not only do you get the first campaign chapter, but you can now access the first Scenario, too. Starting in free update 1.1, Scenarios introduce standalone maps with story arcs to the 4X game. These maps have dedicated challenges like winning by a certain number of turns or while commanding a specific number of heroes, so are ideal ways to replay the game while you muse on diving into the full experience.
A revamped demo isn’t all developer Chimera Entertainment has planned for Songs of Silence, however. Update 1.3 is scheduled for mid April and includes a third Scenario, the fates Skirmish Difficulty, bug-squashing, and more. Then update 1.4 is expected to arrive in either quarter two or three of 2025, with a fourth Scenario, a world generation rework, perks and effects visualizations in the army inspect screen, and even more.
Songs of Silence has been getting better since it launched last year, too. We recently got access to the Lighteaters faction and free 1.2 update, both of which greatly expanded the game. The Lighteaters are stuck between life and death, with plenty of new units and battle opportunities coming with that. The patch also adds another Scenario, giving you yet more reasons to test your skills.
Chimera Entertainment has updated the Songs of Silence demo on Steam for free. Just head here to get involved.
