A new Secret Lair superdrop has been announced for Magic: The Gathering. Like prior superdrops, this limited release of alternate art cards follow a distinct theme. In this case, the Secret Lair: The Ultimate Pencil superdrop will feature wildly different artstyles…and a novelty pencil.
The Secret Lair: The Ultimate Pencil Superdrop Announcement
In an official blog post, Wizards of the Coast revealed the Secret Lair: The Ultimate Pencil superdrop. The drop will contain five different drops of alternate art cards showcasing different artists. In addition, each order from this superdrop will include the very first Secret Lair pencil. Use that knowledge as you wish.
The first drop is called Secret Lair x KEXP: You Are Not Alone. The drop will showcase independent radio station KEXP, featuring its message of shared community through music. To this end, the cards in the drop are inspired by various gig posters brought to life by Bráulio Amado, Jesse LeDoux, Max Loeffler, Bene Rohlmann, and Jay Ryan. Those cards are as follows:
- Cultural Exchange
- Folio Fancies
- Concordant Crossroads
- Rites of Flourishing
- Font of Mythos
The second drop is another KEXP collaboration: Secret Lair x KEXP: Where the Music Matters. This second drop features five basic land cards reimagined as music venues. This cards features the artwork of Dan Black and Jessica Seamans.

The third drop in the Secret Lair: The Ultimate Pencil superdrop features the LA-based artist Jay Howell. Howell is a prolific illustrator with a simplistic but appealing art style Howell brings his own spin to the following cards in this drop:
- Agent of Treachery
- Priest of the Forgotten Gods
- Treasonous Ogre
- Uncivil Rest
- Marchesa, the Black Rose

For the potential pyromaniacs out there, the fourth drop may have your attention. The aptly named, Everything is on Fire drop is all about showcasing why fire bad. Fire very very bad. Notably, this drop is available in a unique Raised Foil option that will set you back $99. The cards in this set are as follows:
- Chain Lightning
- Dragon’s Rage Channeler
- Lava Spike
- Rift Bolt
- Skewer the Critics

Alternatively, if you have the need for speed, the Vroooooommmmmm! drop is all about speed and momentum. Better yet, the artwork is done by rising Japanese talent Toru Terada. This drop is also available in premium Raised Foil for $99. The drop contains the following:
- Lava Dart
- Monastery Swiftspear
- Soul-Scar Mage
- Underworld Breach
- Mishra’s Bauble
Lastly, the Secret Lair: The Ultimate Pencil superdrop will contain a Secret Lair Commander deck. Titled the Everyone’s Invited Commander Deck, it was designed by Megan Smith and Victoria Spurling. The deck combines multiple strategies from different creature types into a single deck. As the name suggests, the deck is a party and everyone is invited. Furthermore, Morophon, the Boundless is the host.
This drop will contain the following:
- 1 Ready to play Commander Deck
- 10 borderless double rainbow foil cards featuring new artwork
- 1 non-foil copy of Rin and Seri, Inseperable
- 89 non-foil Planeswalker stamp reprints
- 10 non-foil double-sided tokens
- 4 Double rainbow Shapeshifter tokens
The Secret Lair: The Ultimate Pencil superdrop will be available May 12. Each drop is available in both non-foil ($29.99) and foil ($39.99). The Everyone’s Invited Commander deck is being sold at an MSRP of $199.99.
