Lost in Cult, the creative studio behind the Design Works series of art books, has announced the launch of a physical games publishing label, built on the pillars of “prestige, preservation, and curation.”
The physical publisher’s first wave of titles is as follows:
IMMORTALITY (PlayStation 5)
Thank Goodness You’re Here! (PlayStation 5, Switch)
The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow (Switch)
Each title will be available as a mass retail edition distributed by PM Studios, and as a premium “EDITION”—limited-run, high-end collector’s editions with “gallery-quality” presentation—distributed exclusively via Lost in Cult’s online store.
“Our EDITIONS are designed to preserve not just the game, but the story and artistry behind its creation,” said Lost in Cult head of publishing Ryan Brown in a press release. “At the same time, our retail releases ensure no one is locked out of owning great games physically, giving everyone a chance to play their favorites for the decades to come, internet connection willing or not.”
Every game published by Lost in Cult will be “complete-on-cart / disc,” requiring no downloads or internet connection to play. The label has partnered with DoesItPlay?, a website that tests each release for offline functionality.
Each EDITION release will include the following:
- Exclusive outer slipcase with original commissioned artwork.
- Variant cover for the retail case inside.
- Developer signature card and a set of art cards.
- Fold-out poster and collector’s checklist.
- Custom sticker.
- A prestige booklet edited by acclaimed Edge Magazine alum Chris Schilling, including developer interviews and analytical essays.
- All-new artwork across packaging and even the mailer box – with three designs rotated seasonally.
Future Lost in Cult publishing releases will be announced in the coming months.
