KTM has officially launched the much awaited 390 Enduro R in India today at Rs 3,36,500 (ex-showroom). It is the most hardcore, street legal, off-road machine in their 390 lineup of bikes. The Indian-spec model comes with several key changes as compared to the international version.
What’s New for India?
For our market, KTM has given the Enduro R slightly different specifications when compared to the one sold abroad. The India-spec bike gets a 30mm lower seat at 860mm, whereas the ground clearance is also 19mm lower, at 253mm. Even the wheel travel has been reduced from 230mm at both ends to 200mm at front and 205mm for rear – same as the 390 Adventure. The dry weight is 170kg here as compared to 159kg globally – this is due to the addition of pillion footpegs, grab rails, saree guard, front number plate mount, and engine guards. All these are required for the bike to meet Indian regulation standards.
Engine
At its heart, the KTM 390 Enduro R packs a 398.63cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine shared with the 390 Duke and Adventure range. It produces 46PS at 8,500rpm, 39Nm at 6,500rpm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Compared to the 390 Adventure, KTM has tweaked the sprocketing on the Enduro R to ensure a better low-end grunt in exchange for a higher top-speed. This should be really helpful while going off-road as you’ll need the extra torque at lower speeds.
Underpinnings
The 390 Enduro shares its main frame, 43mm WP Apex inverted fork and monoshock with the 390 Adventure line-up. The fork has 30 level adjustment for compression and rebound, while the monoshock gets 20-step rebound and 10-step preload adjustability. It rolls on a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear wheel – both spoked and with off-road tubed tyres. Braking is handled by a 285mm front and 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel switchable ABS. Fuel tank capacity is 9-litres and kerb weight is 177kg.
Features
The bike comes equipped with a 4.2-inch TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, phone alerts, and music controls. It gets two ride modes: Street and Off-road, and Switchable ABS, Traction Control. It also has adjustable footpegs, handlebar clamp, brake and clutch levers.
