Developer and publisher Rebellion has announced that post-apocalyptic shooter Atomfall has passed a major player count milestone, and the studio has shared some fun stats about the game to celebrate.
Per a press release, Atomfall has passed the one million player mark, with over 1.5 million players now having checked the game out. It’s worth noting that, like the recent Death Stranding milestone, this doesn’t just refer to sales, but to players who’ve played the game on subscription services as well.
This milestone has led Rebellion to call Atomfall the “most successful launch in the company’s 32-year history”, so it’s clear that, by Rebellion’s metrics at least, the game is a runaway success.
The new player milestone isn’t the only statistic Rebellion has shared regarding Atomfall, either; the studio has also taken a look at how players are playing the game, and some fun, if slightly alarming, trends are emerging.
For instance, Rebellion says that more than 316,000 players “killed the scientist at the very beginning of the game”, which is an impressively short intro-to-bloodshed window.
More than 3.7 million kills have been registered using the game’s cricket bat, which feels very British indeed. After murdering enemies with said bat, players tucked into over 4 million pasties (it’s a sort of pie-like pastry dish here) and drank 300,000 cups of tea. Pip pip!
If you’re not familiar with Atomfall, it’s a post-apocalyptic survival shooter that has been compared to the likes of Fallout and Stalker.
The game takes place following an alternate version of the (very real) Windscale nuclear disaster, which took place in Britain in the 50s. This time, however, a quarantine zone has been set up to contain the disaster, and it’s full of weird characters to meet, quests to pursue, and enemies to fight.
Atomfall is available right now for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and it’s also available for Game Pass (provided you’re subscribed to Ultimate or PC, of course). You can check out Erren’s review of the game here.
