Aprilia India launched the RS 457 in December 2024, marking its long-awaited entry into the middle weight sportbike category. This is also the brand’s first made-in-India motorcycle. However, over the past few months, some owners have reported concerning issues related to the reliability of the 457cc parallel twin engine.
Some Aprilia RS 457 owners have reported power loss and engine failure issues on social media. In response, Aprilia India has issued an official statement after conducting thorough inspections of the affected bikes.

There have been multiple reports about the RS 457, ranging from engine compression loss to malfunctions with the cam chain tensioners. Some RS 457 owners experienced reduced performance, and a few even faced complete engine failure. Notably, these problems have been reported on both stock and modified bikes.
Owners, including those sharing their stories on social media, confirmed that Aprilia India responded by replacing either the cylinder head assembly or the entire engine under warranty. However, many said they were not provided with a clear explanation regarding the root cause of the problems. It’s important to highlight that Aprilia India’s warranty coverage applies exclusively to the original owner.
Aprilia’s statement certainly seems to clear all the ambiguity over the performance of the bike, and also reinforces the brand’s commitment to quality. That said, whether these fixes are truly permanent will only be known in due course of time.
