Nvidia could be making a new budget gaming GPU that’s even cheaper than the $299 RTX 5060, with an increasing number of reports pointing to the potential launch of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 GPU for desktop gaming PCs. The latest evidence to add to the pile is a filing from Chinese graphics card maker Maxsun, which lists a huge total of 16 RTX 5050 graphics cards, covering various product ranges.
While Nvidia hasn’t officially announced this GPU, several leaks about the RTX 5050 have already appeared over the last few months. It’s rumored to contain 2,560 CUDA cores based on the latest Blackwell architecture, along with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, rather than the GDDR7 memory used on all the other RTX 5000 cards. With these specs, we wouldn’t expect it to be the absolute best graphics card, of course, but we’re hoping it will be priced generously – there hasn’t been a new sub-$299 gaming GPU from Nvidia for a number of years now, after all.
This latest filing from Maxsun has just appeared on the Eurasian Economic Union website, as spotted by regular tech leaker Olrak29_ in a post on X (formerly Twitter). It lists a huge number of Maxsun graphics cards, from old GeForce GT 1030 models to new RTX 5080 cards, but there are also many RTX 5050 cards listed. All the model names have “8G” in them, suggesting that the GPU does indeed come with 8GB of VRAM, while the “OC” in some of the names also suggests that overclocked models will be available.
Interestingly, there’s also a model with “LP” in its name, which implies that it will be a low-profile card, meaning the RTX 5050 could potentially make it into the smallest mini gaming PC designs. If that’s the case, it looks like it won’t need a massive amount of cooling power, and previous RTX 5050 specs rumors have put the GPU’s total power draw at 130W.
However, bear in mind that Nvidia hasn’t officially announced that the RTX 5050 even exists, so this is all just filed in the rumor drawer at the moment. I would definitely welcome a new budget gaming GPU from Nvidia, though, as long as it’s genuinely affordable. The RTX 4050 only made it into gaming laptops, with no desktop graphics cards, while the RTX 3050 was hard to find at its MSRP when it launched, due to supply problems.
