It was a much-needed price reduction for both bikes!
Quick News Highlights:
- The Yamaha R3 and the MT-03 are now significantly cheaper than before
- The ex-showroom prices for both bikes have been decreased by Rs 1,10,000
- Both bikes are powered by a 321cc, twin-cylinder engine making 42PS and 29.5Nm
Yamaha India has announced a major price reduction for the R3 and the MT-03. The ex-showroom prices for both bikes have been reduced by Rs 1,10,000. Hence, the Yamaha R3 is now priced at Rs 3,59,900 and the MT-03 now costs for Rs 3,49,900 (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
We think that this price reduction was much needed for both Yamaha R3 and MT-03, as they were priced a lot higher than the competitors previously and made the bikes not so affordable to the masses.
With this price cut, the Yamaha R3 is now priced closer to the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and is now more than Rs 40,000 cheaper than the Aprilia RS 457. The Yamaha MT-03 also makes more sense now. Currently, it does not have a direct twin-cylinder streetfighter rival in the Indian market, but the naked bike will soon go up against the upcoming Aprilia Tuono 457. Moreover, the KTM 390 Duke is another alternative.
More about the Yamaha R3 & MT-03
The Yamaha R3 and MT-03 are both powered by the same 321cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 42PS at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox but misses out on a slip-and-assist clutch.
Featurewise, the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 come with a 5-inch LCD instrument console, which shows a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, tripmeter, clock and other basic telltale lights. Both bikes don’t get smartphone connectivity or any major rider aid features. They only get dual-channel ABS as standard.
