Yamaha R15 Crosses 1 Million Production Mark | BikeDekho TechTricks365


Out of the 10 lakh units of the R15 which have been manufactured, almost 9 lakh bikes have been sold in India

Yamaha Motor India has achieved a new production milestone by successfully manufacturing 10 lakh units of the R15. The sport bike has been on sale in India for the past 16 years, as the first generation was launched back in 2008. It is not only Yamaha’s most popular bike in the country but is also one of the most popular sports bikes in India.

Yamaha R15 Crosses 1 Million Production Mark

The Yamaha R15 has been a popular bike among young rider enthusiasts because of its stunning looks and impressive performance. Out of the 10 lakh units of the R15 which have been manufactured, almost 90 percent have been sold in India itself, which is roughly 9 lakh bikes.

Yamaha currently sells the R15 S, R15 V4 and the R15 M in the Indian market. Below is the price list for each model:

The current Yamaha R15 S is based on the previous generation model, and features the same looks as the R15 V3 as well. However, it has a long single-seat setup, instead of the split seat, as it tends to be a little more comfortable bike.

The Yamaha R15 V4 is the latest model, It is completely redesigned and its aggressive styling is inspired by the bigger Yamaha bikes. The V4 has a split-seat setup and demands a more committed riding posture. The R15 V4 also gets a new LCD instrument cluster, inverted fork, traction control, and an upshift-only quickshifter as an optional feature.

Yamaha R15 Crosses 1 Million Production Mark

The Yamaha R15M, on the other hand, is based on the Yamaha R15 V4 but has better features and exclusive paint schemes. It gets the quickshifter as standard as well.

The R15 S, R15 V4 and R15M are powered by the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with VVA (variable valve transmission) that produces a peak output of 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed transmission with slip-and-assist clutch as standard.

The Yamaha R15 range goes up against other fully-faired bikes like the KTM RC 125, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, Karizma XMR and the Gixxer SF 250.
