Yamaha FZ-S Fi V4 & FZ-Fi to Get OBD-2B Update Soon TechTricks365

Yamaha Motor India is set to launch the updated FZ-S Fi V4 and FZ-Fi soon. The bikes will now have an OBD-2B-compliant engine, keeping up with the latest emission rules. Despite this change, power and performance remain the same. Prices may go up by Rs. 2,000 to 3,000. Yamaha might also introduce new colour options to refresh the lineup. The launch is expected in the coming weeks.

No Change in Performance

Both bikes continue to use the same 149cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It produces 12.23 bhp and 13.3 Nm torque. The engine remains E20 fuel-compatible. Moreover, it is paired with a smooth 5-speed gearbox.

Yamaha’s FZ series is known for its refinement and fuel efficiency. In real-world tests, the FZ-S FI V4 delivered 46 Kmpl and FZ-FI delivered 48 kmpl mileage.

New Colours & Minor Price Hike

Yamaha might introduce new colours to make the bikes look more stylish. Currently, the FZ-Fi is available in Metallic Black and Matte Cyan. The FZ-S Fi V4 comes in Dark Knight and Matte Grey and Matte Red colours. Expect a slight price hike of around Rs. 1,000-2,000 due to the new update.

Why is the Update Important?

The Indian government has announced April 1, 2025, as the deadline for all two-wheelers to be OBD-2B compliant. Yamaha is replacing its entire motorcycle lineup by this deadline. The new emission standards reduce pollution and make two-wheelers more environmentally friendly. After the FZ series, Yamaha will replace other models such as the R15, MT-15, and FZ-X.

The Yamaha FZ series is in competition with TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar N150, and Hero Xtreme 160R. Even though Yamaha’s sales declined by 18.51% between April 2024 and January 2025, the refresh should be able to bring numbers up. With improved efficiency and a sporty look, the FZ series is still an excellent choice for customers.
