WoW style extraction RPG finally gets playable wizard class TechTricks365

Where would fantasy worlds be without wizards? There would be a lot less explosions and ancient curses, that’s for sure. But, health and safety issues aside, fantasy extraction shooter Legacy: Steel and Sorcery has added these pointy-hatted magic users to its playable classes.

Currently in Steam Early Access, Legacy: Steel and Sorcery is a fantasy game with a difference. Half extraction shooter, half RPG, it was born from mistakes on World of Warcraft, designed to offer a more concentrated WoW-style experience. Now, a few months after its Steam Early Access launch, it’s finally adding wizards to the roster of playable characters.r

That’s not to say this online game was, until this point, devoid of magic. The other four classes are Warrior, Rogue, Hunter and Priest and the latter is capable of calling down beams of light upon their foes. But wizards do all that without the need to pray to any fickle deity, which is why they’re automatically superior.

Legacy: Steel and Sorcery’s wizards have a few attacks at their disposal. Their primary weapon, the Emberstaff, allows them to fling icy spells from afar, and even turn back time, Cher-style, on enemies, slowing them down.

That may not sound like a massive arsenal, compared to your average DnD wizard, but developer Notorious Studios plans to expand on the wizard’s repertoire. That includes adding an environmental system to the world, allowing you to combine frost and fire to create fog. We’re hoping they take a leaf out of Mortal Kombat’s book and let you fling ice puddles around because watching enemies slide about is never not funny.

The update, simply dubbed Season 1, contains a host of other extras, including a two new maps, weekly quests and more. While it’s not free-to-play generally, there is a free weekend happening currently and if you’re hooked by its magical extraction shenanigans, the game is 25% off on Steam, making it $18.47 / £16.49.
