Apple Watch could get a more customizable Control Center

A new rumor suggests Apple could allow third-party developers to add buttons and widgets to the watchOS 26 Control Center.

More tiny leaks keep on coming about Apple’s upcoming operating system updates. All will be revealed on June 9 during the WWDC 2025 keynote address, but that isn’t stopping rumors.

The latest leak comes from the anonymous tipsters speaking to 9to5Mac. They suggest the Apple Watch Control Center will get third-party app access with watchOS 26 alongside greater customizability.

Users may be able to rearrange the widgets via the Apple Watch app on iPhone, remove some actions, and add new ones from third-party apps. The concept is similar to the iOS 18 Control Center update.

Since there isn’t much screen space, the new widgets will likely be limited to showing very simple datapoints or act as simple app launchers. Perhaps users could see the temperature of their home, open a direct message in Snapchat, or jump straight to a podcast app.

The same anonymous source has shared two other leaks in the week ahead of WWDC. One suggests a few features are coming to Apple Music and the Notes app, while another mentioned new gestures for AirPods.

Users won’t have to wait long to find out what’s real and what isn’t. The WWDC 2025 keynote starts at 1 p.m. Eastern and will reveal the new operating system redesigns, Apple Intelligence features, and more.
