Upcoming co-op sandbox survival game combining Skyrim with Valheim has a new name TechTricks365

Skyrim remains one of the most iconic open-world RPGs of all time, yet news on The Elder Scrolls 6 feels a long way away. Looking to plug that gap with a Minecraft-style blocky twist on the format is sandbox survival game Everwind. Formerly announced as Skyverse, developer Enjoy Studio reveals that it’s changing names ahead of the game’s launch via Steam Early Access, in response to trademark concerns.

Now known as Everwind, the new game combines that incredible sense of open-world exploration that makes the best games like Skyrim tick with a block-based design reminiscent of Minecraft. Featuring full co-op and multiplayer support, the survival game invites you to explore a sprawling, procedurally generated world. You’ll be able to build a flying island-ship that you can sail across the skies, and shape the environment to your liking with full destruction.

Everwind really strikes a pleasing halfway note between its two biggest inspirations. It feels more of a substantial RPG than Minecraft, with fully fledged dungeons, deadly foes, and mystical powers. It also brings in the ability to play in co-op and a sense of direct control over the shape of the world itself that Skyrim lacks. It’s perhaps a little reminiscent of the likes of Valheim, and that has me eager to give it a try.

So why the name change? “A few weeks ago, our trademark application was contested,” Enjoy Studio CEO Michał Baraniak explains. Rather than going through a lengthy court process that “would significantly delay bringing the game to the players,” the developer opted for a fresh look. “We also believe that the new name represents the world and our vision much better, allowing us to stay fully focused on crafting the best experience possible.”

Everwind is planned to launch via Steam Early Access – there’s no release date yet, but Enjoy Studios confirms that it’s planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign at the end of April. For now, you can wishlist it on Steam to stay up to date.
