The pricing is amazing for sure, but there’s more to it than what meets the eye
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ultraviolette Automotive recently launched the Tesseract electric scooter, drawing attention with its futuristic design and cutting-edge technology. The introductory price of Rs 1,20,000 for the first 10,000 customers certainly raised eyebrows, but things aren’t as straightforward as one would like to believe. The pricing that’s been revealed applies only to the base variant.
Base Vs Top Variant: What’s The Deal With The Price?
The Ultraviolette Tesseract comes in three variants each differing in battery capacity: Tesseract 3.5, Tesseract 5, and Tesseract 6. The base variant, which is priced at Rs 1,20,000 introductory for the first 10,000 customers, Rs 1,30,000 for the next 50,000 customers, and Rs 1,45,000 for the rest. Now, this is pretty impressive as 50,000 units is a fairly huge number, something that will probably account for a few months of sales. Priority delivery will apply to those who pre-book the scooter.
Also, a lot of the advanced features seen at the launch event may be limited to the higher variants. Moreover, pricing as well as details of the specification for the mid-spec Tesseract 5 and the top-end Tesseract 6 will be revealed only in Q4, 2025, as per the brand.
The 3.5kWh battery pack in the base variant offers a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 162km. The 5kWh and 6kWh variants offer longer ranges – 220km and 261km, respectively. The base variant has a power output of 10kW, while the other two variants have 15kW. We expect the Tesseract 5 to cost around Rs 1.7 lakh, and the Tesseract 6 to cost around Rs 2 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
The more advanced features showcased at launch such as the radar technology, integrated dashcams, smart mirrors with blind spot detection, lane change assist, and collision alerts may be exclusive to the higher variants. We wouldn’t be surprised if some of the features, like the haptic feedback on the handlebar are optional.
What You Should Know Before Booking
Pre-bookings for the Tesseract are now open, at a booking amount Rs 999. Deliveries are planned to begin in the first quarter of 2026. Keep in mind that if you are hoping for the full suite of features, you will likely need to opt for one of the higher variants, whose price will be revealed by the end of this year.
BikeDekho Says
The Ultraviolette Tesseract offers an exciting and innovative entry into the electric scooter market, especially with its futuristic design and cutting edge features. Interestingly, even the base variant undercuts the Ather 450X in terms of pricing while offering the same IDC range. That said, Ultraviolette will have to expand substantially to match its rivals’ sales and service infrastructure. Additionally, it’s always better to see the variant that you want in the flesh, learn about its features and then pre-book, provided you’re willing to wait for a bit.
