Could feature some changes to be road legal
Ultraviolette has patented the design of the upcoming Shockwave electric dual-sport, and the images have surfaced online. The upcoming production spec version of the Shockwave will feature a similar design as the one that was unveiled in March this year, but with some minor changes. Here’s a detailed overview of everything we know about the upcoming bike so far:
Judging by the design, the production spec Ultraviolette Shockwave will look pretty much the same as the one unveiled earlier. It will feature a raised front fender, a slim body with aggressive looking panels, and a single-piece seat.
The 3D render of the bike doesn’t differentiate between the transparent sections and opaque ones, so the headlight section is not clearly visible. We think the production-ready bike will feature a similar vertically stacked dual-projector headlight setup as the bike that was unveiled earlier. Also, it looks like the fork cover has a slightly different design in the patent images. Another aspect we noticed on the patent image is the lack of brake lever guards. The unveiled model had a pair, so this could mean that Ultraviolette might offer it as an optional accessory and not as standard.
Apart from what we can see, we can also expect other changes to make the bike road-legal. This will include number plate holders, indicators, and a saree guard. We can expect the numberplate holder at the front to be mounted just above the headlight section, similar to what we have already seen on other dual-sport bikes in the market like the Kawasaki KLX230 and the KTM 390 Enduro R. The production version should have a number plate holder with integrated indicators mounted just below the rear fender. Coming to the saree guard, expect the bike to feature one which is integrated into the swingarm.
The Shockwave will be powered by an 10.6kW electric motor with a chain drive transmission. It will get a 4kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 165km. In terms of performance, the bike has a claimed top-speed of 120kmph.
It will feature a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The fork will offer 200mm of wheel travel whereas the monoshock offers 180mm wheel travel. The bike will roll on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel with spoke wheels. Braking setup consists of a 270mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm rear disc.
Ultraviolette offered the bike at an introductory price of Rs 1,49,999 (ex-showroom) for the first 2,000 customers. Now the price has increased to Rs 1,74,999 (ex-showroom). While the prices have been revealed, the deliveries will start only in early 2026. The bike currently has no rivals in the electric two-wheeler space, but will go up against petrol powered dual-sport bikes like the Kawasaki KLX230 and the Hero XPulse 210.
