Thruxton 400 spotted alongside it
The Triumph Scrambler 400X, which had officially already launched back in 2023, was once again spotted undergoing testing in Europe with wire-spoke wheels. These wheels could potentially be tubeless tyre compatible as well. This marks the second time a test mule of the 400 X has been seen with these type of wheels, which were previously spotted before the Scrambler had even launched. Alongside this bike, even the Thruxton 400 was seen.

Wire-spoke Wheels
These wire-spoke wheels, expected to be tubeless, have drawn attention due to their rarity in the sub-500cc adventure bike segment. The addition of these wheels could be Triumph’s attempt to offer something for riders seeking a more rugged, off-road-ready setup for the Scrambler 400 X.
Option Or Variant?
These wire-spoke tubeless wheels could either be offered as an optional, official Triumph accessory for the bike or as part of a new, more expensive variant of the 400 X.
Other Updates
In this spy shot, the bike appears to be using many official accessories like the small flyscreen, engine guards, and the higher front mudguard. The bike could also receive suspension updates but that is not certain as of now. Additionally, the tuning of the engine could also be slightly altered but these are details that we will only officially know once the motorcycle has been launched. We think that this updated model should also come with sintered brake pads as standard considering that the performance and life of the organic brake pads are not very good.
Thruxton 400
The Thruxton 400 was also seen alongside the Scrambler, suggesting that its launch could be sooner than expected. The Thruxton is the cafe racer version of the Speed 400, and is expected to be priced higher than the Speed 400, which it shares its platform with. The bike draws its design inspiration from the Speed 1200 RR, with a half fairing, bar-end mirrors, clip-on handlebars, and a more aggressive riding position.
BikeDekho Says
The wire-spoke wheels might have been developed due to the new 2025 KTM Adventure 390 being launched with these wheels, and Royal Enfield making headlines with their wire-spoked tubeless wheels being priced at an impressive Rs 11,000 for the Himalayan 450. It is still unclear whether the wire-spoke wheels will be available as a standard feature or part of a more premium variant but we feel that Triumph should offer them to existing customers as well. As for the Thruxton 400, we expect the bike to be launched by the end of this year as it has been spotted testing multiple times in India as well.
