Now you can get a 40PS bike under Rs 2 lakh!
Gone are the days when the Indian two-wheeler market was mostly about commuter bikes. Now in 2025, you have a lot of fun motorcycles at different price points. If you are someone who is looking for fantastic performance for a budget of Rs 2 lakh, you’ll be glad to know that from supersport to an ADV, you have several great choices. We have compiled a list of top 5 most value-for-money performance bikes on sale to make your decision much easier:
Hero Xtreme 250R
One of the newest additions to the Hero’s stable, the Xtreme 250R is Hero’s first 250cc bike to go on sale. Priced at Rs 1,79,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the bike is offered great value for money for the performance and features it offers.
The Hero Xtreme 250R, with its 249cc, liquid-cooled engine produces 30PS of power along with 25Nm of torque. The bike is equipped with an all-LED lighting setup (projector headlamp), a colour LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity for call and SMS alerts along with turn-by-turn navigation and a lap timer too.
The engine has great bottom-end torque, reasonably refined and stable at highway speeds, good mid-range grunt, and also pretty fun to ride on roads with fast corners. If you’re looking for a good balance of performance and features in the 250cc segment, that too at an affordable price, the Xtreme 250R ticks all the right boxes.
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is one of the sportiest bikes in the 200cc segment. It not only looks aggressive, but is also pretty feature packed, including a connected console with navigation, preload-adjustable front and rear suspension (segment first), three riding modes with different power and torque outputs and different ABS tuning (again, first in segment), and adjustable brake and clutch levers.
The engine is fairly refined, and is quite peppy. The adjustable suspension also means you can tune the setup as per your liking, based on your weight and the road condition. The engine refinement and the braking performance are pretty good too.
The Apache RTR 200 4V is ideal for those who want a feature-packed performance-oriented 200cc naked bike that can add a smile to your face in everyday commutes, and can also handle the occasional weekend rides. At Rs 1,48,620 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it’s the cheapest option in this list. You can use the rest of the budget on investing in fuel as well as some good quality riding gear.
Hero Xpulse 210
For around Rs 1,75,800 (ex-showroom Delhi), you can buy the Hero Xpulse 210, a dual-sport motorcycle that’s capable of going fully off-road and handling bad roads easily with the generous wheel travel of more than 200mm at both ends. While the Xpulse 200 4V practically popularised the dual-sport segment in India, the Xpulse 210 is a well-rounded improvement over the 200.
The Xpulse 210 has got great tractability, better performance and refinement at highway speeds than the XPulse 200, excellent off-road handling and good set of features as well. All in all, if you’re looking to learn off-road riding (and also if your commute involves really bad roads), then the XPulse 210 is the one to go for.
Yamaha R15 V4
If you are in the market for a no-nonsense sportsbike that can teach you a lot, you can’t go wrong with the Yamaha R15 V4. With prices starting at Rs 1,84,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi), you get a proper fully faired sportsbike with excellent handling, decent mileage and a smooth and refined engine.
The Yamaha R15 V4, also comes equipped with a slip-and-assist clutch, traction control system, dual-channel ABS and a LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity too. While it’s a great bike for learning to ride on a race track or enjoying twisty roads, its aggressive riding posture is something you might want to pay attention to, especially if you’re also planning to use the bike for daily commutes.
Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z
The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, the biggest pulsar ever launched, is powered by a 373cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces a massive 40PS of power and 35Nm of torque. At Rs 1,81,318, this is by far the most affordable bike in India that makes 40PS.
The bike is also fairly feature-loaded as it gets an all-LED lighting setup, LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, switchable traction control and riding modes too. The KTM-derived engine means it’s got plenty of brute performance. While the high-speed handling could’ve been better (especially with grippier tyres), there’s nothing like the Pulsar NS400Z in the sub Rs 2 lakh segment that offers this level of performance. The upright riding posture also makes it comfortable enough for daily commutes as well as highway rides. If you’re looking for raw performance at an affordable price point, the Pulsar NS400Z is the answer.
