The new OneS is claimed to be quicker than its more expensive sibling

Simple Energy recently launched the  OneS electric scooter at Rs 1,39,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). It replaces the Dot One electric scooter in Simple Energy’s lineup. Let’s have a look at how the new Simple OneS differs from the Simple One Gen 1.5:

Price:

The new Simple OneS is priced at Rs 1,39,999, making it Rs 26,695 more affordable than the Simple One Gen 1.5, priced at Rs 1,66,694 (all prices ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Despite being more affordable, the Simple OneS still gets similar features and performance.


Design:

The Simple OneS gets the same aggressive design as the Simple One Gen 1.5, but the scooters differ in the number of colour schemes they get. The OneS is offered in four colour schemes while the One Gen 1.5 is offered in six colour schemes. 

Battery and Performance:

The Simple OneS gets a 3.7kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 181km as opposed to the Simple One Gen 1.5’s bigger 5kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 248km. Both the scooters get the same electric motor with a peak power output of 8.5kWh and 72Nm of torque, but the Simple OneS is quicker with a 0-40kmph acceleration time of 2.55 seconds while the Simple One Gen 1.5 takes 2.77 seconds. Both the scooters get a claimed top speed of 105kmph, which is pretty adequate for the sporty electric scooters.

Features:

Both scooters get similar features with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity, call and SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The scooters are also equipped with safety features like fall-safe, TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), geo-fencing and regenerative braking. The scooters also get four riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic to manage their range and power output. As far as the utilitarian aspect of the scooters is concerned, the Simple OneS gets a 35 litres of underseat storage while the Simple One Gen 1.5 gets a 30 litres of storage space.

Underpinnings:

The Simple OneS and the Simple One Gen 1.5 share the same underpinnings with a telescopic fork and a monoshock. The scooters get 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 90-section tubeless tyres and come equipped with 200mm front and 190mm rear disc brakes with CBS (Combined Braking System) as standard.
