We all love our modern KTM LC8s in the 1050, 1090, 1190, and 1290 platforms. But, let’s face it, we do not look forward to servicing the air filter after spending the weekend in the dust. Servicing the filter on these models is a pain in the ass and takes away precious riding time. We all know service is the key to longevity of these motorcycles and shouldn’t be ignored, so here’s some good news. Your life is about to get a lot easier!

A few years ago at the SEMA show Chris Parker showed me something that would change the process of servicing the air filter on the twin LC8 adventure models. Believe me, sitting on a secret this long was torture to say the least. The wait was well worth me having to keep this game-changing product to myself.

The concept itself is pretty basic in theory. The challenge was making the dimensions work without robbing precious air-filter volume. The system uses a Twin-Air filter over the cage that attaches to a magnetic base plate. The use of a guide pin into a rubber gromet ensures that the filter is aligned properly and covers the throttle bodies keeping out dirt and dust. Once everything is in place and good to go the use of a screw-in knob and latch style system is used. The Rottweiler team wanted to make sure it all stays in place while riding off-road.

It’s been a long process getting this product to market with manufacturing delays and multiple prototypes to make sure the end product preformed to Rottweiler standards. But it’s a dream come true for us 1090, 1190, and 1290 owners. Installation is a breeze and takes less than an hour to complete. Now you don’t have to dread doing your filter any longer!
