The brand has also crossed Rs 100 crore sales revenue for the first time in 4 years

Quick News Highlights

  • The River Indie has tallied 1,000 units in a month

  • The brand has achieved Rs 100 crore sales revenue

  • The sales milestone is pretty commendable as it only has 20 dealerships at the moment

River EV, the Bangalore based electric vehicle startup has achieved two major milestones in April 2025. They have sold 1,000 units of the Indie in a single month for the first time. For perspective, the brand commenced its deliveries in October 2023. River has managed to cross Rs 100 crores in sales revenue, since its inception, 4 years ago.

The sales milestone is quite impressive as River achieved it with only 20 dealerships right now. Currently, the company has dealerships in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hubli, Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Mysuru. Along with this, it’s also planning on expanding to more cities in the near future such as Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Pune in the coming weeks.

The River Indie is offered in one variant and is priced at Rs 1,44,259 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The River Indie features a rugged look with the twin apron mounted headlight setup and the panier mounts. The scooter is powered by a 6.7kW mid-mounted motor, which offers a claimed acceleration of 0-40kmph in 3.9 seconds, and a claimed top speed of 90kmph. The motor is linked to a 4kWh battery pack which offers a claimed range of 161km.

But the main selling point of the River Indie is the large amount of storage space that it offers. The scooter comes with a massive 43-litre underseat storage along with a 12-litre lockable glove box. For perspective the Ather Rizta, one of the Indie’s primary competitors has a 36-litre underseat storage. While reviewing the scooter, the large underseat storage was one of the many things that we liked about it.

River has also been quite active in updating the scooter since launch. Since our review, the scooter has got some much needed updates in the form of two new colour schemes and also a dedicated reverse button as well. Here’s everything you need to know.

Summing up, River EV’s slow and steady approach seems to be working well in the long run as it is able to manage supply and demand, and then scale up at the same time. Moreover, Yamaha’s funding in River should also help both brands establish themselves in the growing Indian EV segment.
