Most in-depth simulation games hone in on specific subjects or locations in order to keep their scope manageable. Cities Skylines and Sim City focus on urban centers. Microsoft Flight Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Train Sim World each model types of vehicles. Worldwide Rush, though, takes a much broader approach to the genre, combining the globe-spanning scope of a game like Europa Universalis with the logistics management of something like Factorio or Satisfactory. It’s also just launched a new demo showing off what that looks like in practice.
Worldwide Rush is essentially a grand strategy game where the strategy in question concerns managing a company capable of transporting people across the entire planet. It starts with players building their business’ headquarters and buying an ever-expanding fleet made up of 120 different vehicle choices, ranging from buses and trains to planes and giant ships.
From there, it’s necessary to cater to the needs of a customer base of passengers by creating routes between the locations they want to travel to, providing hotels at their destinations, and managing the increasingly complex logistics involved with a growing array of businesses. There are AI controlled competitors to contend with, too, who will try to attract their own customers at the player’s expense.
The scale of Worldwide Rush is enormous, but its new demo offers a manageable sample of the entire game. In it, players can set up their company across the United Kingdom and Ireland and make use of 21 different vehicles.
