Fans have been theorizing who might get added to Marvel Rivals since before the game was released, with a recent leak seemingly indicating Marvel’s own “Merc with a Mouth” Deadpool will soon be joining the roster. The funny, irreverent, bright-red spandex-wearing anti-hero has long been rumored for Marvel Rivals, with new audio leaks pointing toward Deadpool’s seemingly imminent arrival.
Perhaps Marvel Rivals’ biggest strength is its roster. Filled with dozens of iconic heroes and villains, Marvel Rivals offers players the chance to play as some of their favorite Marvel characters completely for free, with new additions consistently dropping. Marvel Rivals’ Season 1 update brought the Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic into the fold, with the rest of The Fantastic Four crew joining as part of the second half of the season. However, the vulgar and crass Deadpool has been noticeably absent since the launch of Marvel Rivals, something that is seemingly intended to change soon.
According to new information from MarvelRivalLeak on Twitter, voice interactions between Marvel Rivals’ current roster and Deadpool have been uncovered. Voice lines have seemingly already been recorded, with one interaction seeing Deadpool have a conversation with Spider-Man. “Great, we’re saving the world, and here comes the loosest cannon,” says Spider-Man, highlighting the unique relationship the two mask-wearing characters have.
Voice lines aren’t the only thing suggesting Deadpool will soon make his way into the world of Marvel Rivals, with players being granted a Deadpool-specific nameplate as a free reward with another Marvel game, Marvel Snap. Deadpool is arguably one of the most notable characters currently missing from Marvel Rivals’ ever-expanding roster, especially considering the massive box-office success the character saw with Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024. Players can purchase an MCU-inspired outfit for Wolverine in Marvel Rivals, something else that has sparked theories about Deadpool’s eventual arrival in the game. Interestingly, these new leaked voice interactions also indicate that other characters like MODOK and Hit Monkey will soon make their way into Marvel Rivals.
Who gets added to Marvel Rivals remains up to developer NetEase, though the studio has made a commitment to players to try and introduce a new character roughly every 45 days. Marvel Rivals is currently in the middle of its Season 1 cycle, which brought several changes, tweaks, and updates to the game. Not only were new characters added, but so were new environments and game modes like Doom Match, which is Marvel Rivals’ take on free-for-all. Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is expected to wind down sometime in April, though exact dates still remain a mystery for now.
