Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has finally hit form in the final game of this year’s Indian Premier League, and boy did he do it in some style!
The swashbuckling southpaw, who has been under heavy scrutiny in IPL 2025 for his massive price tag but lacklustre performances, scored his maiden century of IPL 2025 as he reached the three-figure mark in just 54 balls against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
He reached it in his trademark style, an ungainly yet effective hit to the boundary, as the ₹27-crore star celebrated his ton with a cartwheel.
Pant scored his 100 in the penultimate ball of the 18th over. He dispatched a full ball from Bhuvneshwar Kumar over extra cover after completely losing his balance.
Making a statement
The LSG skipper has been under fire throughout the tournament and has been the butt of jokes online every time he failed with the bat, which was more often than not in IPL 2025.
However, tonight was not the night as he took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners.
Coming in to bat at number 3, he stitched an aggressive partnership with Mitchell Marsh as the duo dealt in boundaries and sixes.
The duo put on 152 runs for the second wicket and their attacking partnership could seriously dent RCB’s chances of finishing in the top 2 of the points table.
A top-two finish would allow the Bengaluru side to play the more forgiving Qualifer 1 encounter instead of the do-or-die Eliminator against the Mumbai Indians.
Pant’s century powered LSG to 227/3 as the LSG skipper remained unbeaten on 118 from 61 balls. His innings contained 11 hits to the fence and eight explosive sixes.
