KTM is testing the RC 160 in India, and it is good news for motorbike enthusiasts. This indicates that the brand is developing a new motorcycle in the 160cc segment. The motorcycle was spotted on the roads without camouflage. It was painted white, black, and orange. A sticker on the fairing also read “RC 160,” which indicates it is a new bike. KTM is replacing its 125cc motorcycles with this beast of a machine.
A New Competitor for Yamaha R15
The upcoming RC 160 is expected to take on the Yamaha R15 V4. KTM wants to grab attention in the 160cc segment with this bike. The RC 160 could use a 160cc liquid-cooled engine. It might produce around 20PS power and 14-15Nm torque. In comparison, the RC 125 makes 14.5PS and 12Nm. With these numbers, the new bike will be stronger than the RC 125 but slightly less powerful than the RC 200.
Expected Features and Specifications
The RC 160 could receive premium hardware in the form of a USD fork and monoshock suspension. It could also get an aluminium swingarm, LED headlight, and LCD instrument cluster. Dual-channel ABS from KTM could also be included, which ensures safer braking. The bodywork will be modelled on the RC 200. In addition, an underbelly exhaust, similar to the RC 125 and RC 200, is on the cards. It is a high-end bike in the 160cc segment because of these features.
Launch Date and Expected Price
KTM hasn’t announced the RC 160 as of now. But given the fact that the bike has been spotted testing, it can be released anytime now. Rumours predict a release sometime in late 2025, just ahead of the festival season. As far as pricing goes, the RC 160 may be priced in the range of Rs 1.80 lakh to Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing will position it very well against the Yamaha R15, Suzuki Gixxer SF, and Hero Karizma XMR.
