A globetrotter who has travelled most of the world on two wheels talks to us about his experience with KTM
Ajay Pereira is a globetrotter who has travelled most of the world on two-wheels. He is a retired oil-field engineer by profession and over the years he has owned many big bikes, but after his retirement he added the Gen 3 KTM 390 Duke and the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure to his garage. Here’s what he had to say about the KTM Pro-XP experience in Mumbai .
Beginning His Motorcycling Journey
Ajay Pereira started his journey with two wheels on a Kinetic Honda, and after he moved to the Gulf he got a Honda CBR250. Over the years he has owned many big bikes, including the Ducati Multistrada, BMW R 1250 GS among others.
For Ajay, motorcycling has always been linked with his love for travel. Over the years he has completed many long trips across the globe. When we asked which was the most memorable trip he had undertaken he said, “The two memorable trips that were there, one is Oman to Pretoria, South Africa and the second one was from California, doing the whole west coast of America, right up to Alaska”.
What KTM Did Different
Over the years, Ajay has owned many KTMs, and the two things which he absolutely loves are cruise control and the ability to adjust the bike’s suspension on the go. Adjusting the rebound and compression on the fork is as simple as turning two switches on the fork.
Another thing which made the KTM ownership experience different was the servicing experience. Ajay had a lot of good things to say about his experience, especially with KTM Marol. He said, “The mechanics are also fantastic at the KTM service centre, I would like to thank them especially for all the things that they have done”.
KTM Pro-XP
Ajay’s experience at KTM Pro-XP was very different from others, as he had dropped his bike while riding off-road. But thankfully he was able to come out of this without any injury as he was wearing full riding gear.
Dropping the bike offroad is something which happens very often, and more so when you’re riding unknown trails. But one of the things which stood out during the event was how quickly the mechanics at KTM were able to fix the bike and get it back up and running.

Dropping a bike is not a good experience and many would get demoralized after an incident like this. But Ajay was not deterred, he said “I am definitely sure that later on when it gets dark, I am going on my bike doing the circuit”. He came to the event with the latest addition to this ever growing bike garage, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure.
