KTM Duke 125 And RC 125 Discontinued In India, To Be Replaced By Upcoming KTM Duke 160 And RC 160 | BikeDekho TechTricks365

The bikes could be replaced by the upcoming KTM Duke 160 and the RC 160

Quick News Highlights

  • Duke 125 and RC 125 have been removed from the KTM website

  • Both have been discontinued due to poor sales

  • KTM could launch replacements by mid-2025

The KTM Duke 125 and the KTM RC 125 have been removed from the KTM India website, indicating that both have been discontinued. The bikes had been struggling with poor sales for a while now, likely due to increased competition from rivals. In January 2025 for example, The KTM Duke 125 only sold 17 units, which is a massive drop in sales.

The Duke 125 and the RC 125 were good options for beginner riders to practice on and improve their skills. But both of the models were priced a bit too high when compared to rivals. For perspective, the KTM Duke 125 was priced at  Rs 1,81,030 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is almost Rs 12,000 more expensive than the more powerful Yamaha MT-15.

It is the same story with the KTM RC 125, which was priced at Rs 1,91,795 (ex-showroom, Delhi). That made it around Rs 3,000 more expensive than the Yamaha R15 V4. This might not seem like a big premium, but when looking at it from a value for money perspective, the R15 offers a bump of 3.9PS and 2.1Nm.

Another major issue with the KTM 125s was that most riders tend to outgrow the bikes quite quickly, as the performance offered is not that exciting. Now, KTM could likely replace the bikes with the upcoming KTM Duke 160 and the KTM RC 160. The KTM RC 160 was recently spotted testing in India as well.

Both the bikes will likely feature a bored-out version of the 125cc engine, and the new engine could produce something around 20PS and 14-15Nm. This bump in performance will help KTM compete with rivals better. We expect the bikes to come to India by the end of 2025, and could be priced around Rs 1.80 to Rs 1.90 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
