KTM has added a new bike to its Indian lineup—the 390 Enduro R. This new model joins the KTM 390 Adventure, creating more choices for riders. Both bikes use the same 399cc engine but serve different purposes. If you are wondering how they differ, here’s everything you need to know in this comparison.
Design: KTM 390 Enduro R vs KTM 390 Adventure
At first look, both bikes appear very different. The KTM 390 Adventure has a taller stance and more body panels. It looks big and bold, with a tall windscreen and LED headlight. The fuel tank on the 390 Adventure holds 14 litres, making it suitable for long trips. It also has better wind protection for highway rides.
In contrast, the KTM 390 Enduro R is slimmer and built for off-road fun. It has less bodywork, a smaller 9-litre fuel tank, and a compact LED headlight. Even though it looks lighter, they both actually have the same weight. That’s because most of the Adventure’s weight comes from the extra fuel. Moreover, this makes the Enduro R feel nimble and easy to handle on tough trails.
Engine: KTM 390 Enduro R vs KTM 390 Adventure
The KTM 390 Adventure comes with a 373.27cc engine. It produces 42.9 bhp of power at 9000 rpm and 37 Nm at 7500 rpm. On the other hand, the KTM 390 Enduro R gets a newer and bigger 398.63cc engine. It generates 45.37 bhp at 8500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm, which is more than the Adventure.
Features: KTM 390 Enduro R vs KTM 390 Adventure

When it comes to technology, the 390 Adventure offers more features. It has a bigger 5-inch TFT screen and cruise control. The Enduro R uses a smaller 4.2-inch screen and doesn’t have cruise control. It also lacks the six-axis IMU found on the Adventure. So, you don’t get lean-angle sensitive traction control or ABS. The Adventure also offers three riding modes—Street, Off-road, and Rain. The Enduro R has only Street and Off-road modes.
Both bikes come with different switchgear. The Enduro R gets a four-way toggle switch. The Adventure has four individual buttons with backlighting. A special feature on the Enduro R is the ABS off button. This lets you turn off the front ABS quickly, which is helpful during trail riding.
Specifications: KTM 390 Enduro R vs KTM 390 Adventure
Their chassis setup also shows big differences. The Enduro R is built on a steel trellis frame, and the 390 Adventure is built on a split trellis frame. In addition, both bikes have different tyre setups. Enduro R has 21-inch wheels in front and 18-inch wheels in the rear.
On the other hand, the 390 Adventure has 19-inch front wheels and 17-inch rear wheels. This change helps the Enduro R handle rough terrain better. KTM also gave the Enduro R a larger rear sprocket for improved control.
The Adventure has tubeless spoke wheels, which are easier to fix during trips. The Enduro R sticks to tube-type wheels. Because of its taller wheels, the Enduro R has a higher seat height of 860mm. The Adventure’s seat height is 855mm. Ground clearance is also better on the Enduro R at 253mm, compared to 200mm on the Adventure.
Price: KTM 390 Enduro R vs KTM 390 Adventure
Finally, let’s talk about price. The 390 Enduro R costs Rs. 3.36 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Adventure bike price starts at Rs. 2.84 lakh. At the end, the extra money gives you more features and better comfort for touring. But if your goal is to ride off-road, the Enduro R is the better choice.
Both bikes serve different types of riders. If you love touring and some off-road fun, pick the 390 Adventure. If you enjoy pure trail riding and technical terrain, go for the 390 Enduro R.
