KTM 390 Adventure Tubeless Spoke Wheels: How Do They Work? | BikeDekho TechTricks365

We explain how the KTM’s patented tubeless spoke wheels work and how reliable they are

KTM has launched the much-awaited 2025 390 Adventure in India, priced at Rs 3,67,699 (ex-showroom, Delhi). While there are many highlights of the new 390 ADV, from engine, features and underpinnings, one of them is the centrally-mounted tubeless spoke wheels.

Here’s How These Tubeless Spoke Wheels Work:

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure comes equipped with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, wrapped with  90-section front and 130-section rear tubeless tyres. These wheels feature KTM’s specially patented tubeless spoke wheel technology. They are very different from the usual cross-spoke wheels as the spokes are mounted at the centre, instead of the sides like the other tubeless spoke wheels.

These KTM patented tubeless spoke wheels have an inner rubber seal, which is secured by a powerful tape from the inside. The rubber seal forms a sturdy and air-tight seal between the spoke fitment on the wheel and the inside of the tyre, while the strong tape ensures that the inside of the spokes doesn’t pierce the rubber seal and cause any air leakage.

What Are The Benefits Of The KTM’s Special Spoke Wheels?

The KTM’s tubeless spoke wheel tech helps in keeping the rims narrower, as compared to cross-spoke wheels on other premium ADVs. This contributes to better handling on and off-road. Especially on off-road trails and adventures, these narrow wheels make the ADV a lot easier to ride.

These spoked wheels offer the same advantages as the usual cross-spoked wheels and can take much harder beatings as compared to alloy wheels. Moreover, if your spoke wheels bend during off-roading or due to a sharp pothole on the road, then you can change individual spokes easily. Being equipped with tubeless tyres, these wheels also help make puncture repairs easy and quick.

Are These Tubeless Spoke Wheels Reliable?

These special tubeless spoke wheels are very sturdy and reliable in the long run and should last for many years. KTM has put in a lot of research and time into developing and testing these wheels, which is why  you shouldn’t worry about them coming off easily. Even in the KTM 390 Adventure’s 400mm water wading test and hardcore off-road, these wheels performed exceptionally well and held on strongly.

More About The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure:

The new KTM 390 Adventure is powered by the same 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder LC4C engine as the KTM 390 Duke. On the ADV, it makes 46PS at 8500rpm and 39Nm at 6500rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure features the same 5-inch TFT instrument console as the KTM 390 Duke. It offers turn-by-turn navigation, call & message alerts as well as call and music controls. Rider aid features on the ADV include cruise control, cornering ABS, switchable ABS modes, cornering traction control, and three ride modes (Rain, Road and Off-road). It directly rivals the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the upcoming CFMoto 450MT and the upcoming BMW F 450 GS.
