KTM 125 Duke And RC 125 To Be Discontinued Soon | BikeDekho TechTricks365

The 125cc KTMs were seeing a sharp decline in their sales since last year

Quick News Highlights

  • KTM will discontinue the Duke 125 and the RC 125 form its lineup

  • The 200 Duke will now become the most affordable KTM in India

  • The 125cc bikes’ poor sales is likely to be the major reasoning behind the discontinuation

The KTM Duke 125 and the RC 125 are about to be discontinued in India soon. Our dealer sources tell us that the 125 Duke has been majorly cleared out from dealerships but the RC 125 is still available till remaining stocks last. Post this, a final announcement from KTM regarding the discontinuation is expected.

One of the biggest reasons for the discontinuation of the KTM 125cc bikes is most likely to be its dwindling sales numbers. The Austrian bikemaker produced 1,692 units of the 125cc bikes in January 2024, which dropped down to just 33 units in January 2025. In fact, KTM managed to sell just 17 bikes in January 2025, which is a massive drop when compared to the 230 units sold in January 2024.

The biggest reason for these sales figures is the high price tag of these bikes. At Rs 1,81,030 for the 125 Duke and Rs 1,91,795 for the RC 125 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi), you can get similarly priced bikes such as Yamaha R15 V4 and the Apache RTR 200 4V that offer better value-for-money. In fact, the KTM 200 Duke is only Rs 23,000 more expensive at Rs 2,03,950 (ex-showroom Delhi). For the premium, you get more features and a larger capacity engine putting out more power. Both the KTM Duke 125 and RC 125 are powered by a 124.7cc engine putting out 14.5PS and 12Nm.

KTM has been dealing with its debt issues for some time now and its proposed restructuring plans were accepted by its creditors recently. Excess inventory build-up has been one of the brand’s biggest problems of late. So, the discontinuation of the 125cc bikes is most likely part of KTM streamlining its product lineup and focussing on bikes that bring in good sales numbers for the Austrian bikemaker.
