Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul is doubtful against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after he was hit on the right knee by a Mukesh Kumar delivery at the nets on Tuesday. Rahul, who scored a hundred in Delhi Capitals’ previous game against Gujarat Titans, left the training midway for medical treatment.
Based on a TOI report, Rahul was hit on his right knee while batting at nets against Mukesh. In case, Rahul misses the next game against Mumbai Indians, it will be a huge blow for the Axar Patel-led side considering the right-hander has been the highest run-getter for the Delhi-based franchise in IPL 2025.
Rahul has been in prolific form for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 and certainly their prime stay in batting. In 11 matches so far, Rahul has scored 438 runs at an average of 61.63 and a strike rate of 148.05.
With Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings already qualified for the playoffs, the battle for the final spot is between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals’ qualification chances
With 14 points from 12 games, Mumbai Indians are placed fourth in the points table. Winning both their remaining matches will secure Mumbai Indians’ spot in the top four. If they end up with 16 points, they’ll have to rely on other results to progress.
However, losing both games would mean elimination. Their impressive net run rate of 1.156 could be a key factor if qualification is decided on that basis. Delhi Capitals are placed fifth with 13 points from 12 games. They need to win both their remaining games to qualify.
