New Delhi: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav Sunday expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from the party for six years. In an X post, he said that he is not only removing his son from the party but also from the family. “Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice,” wrote the RJD patriarch.
This comes soon after a Facebook post from Tej Pratap’s account showed him with a woman the post identified as Anushka Yadav, with whom he has been in a relationship for 12 years, the caption said.
The post was quickly deleted, and Tej Pratap later claimed his account had been hacked and photos edited to defame him and his family.
Tej Pratap, currently the Hasanpur MLA, has previously served as minister of environment, forest and climate Change in the Bihar government. This controversy comes at a time when the Bihar elections are months away.

“The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behaviour of our eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions. Therefore…I remove him from the party and family. From now on, he will not have any role of any kind in the party and family. He is expelled from the party for 6 years,” Lalu wrote on X.
Yadav had tied the knot with Aishwarya, the granddaughter of former Bihar chief minister Daroga Rai. However, within a few months, Aishwarya left his house, alleging that she was driven out by her husband and in-laws.
Aishwarya’s father Chandrika Roy, a former minister himself, quit the RJD, vowing to fight his daughter’s battle “politically and legally”.
The couple’s divorce petition is pending before a family court and both sides have traded charges. While Yadav has accused his wife of demanding a huge alimony, Aishwarya has alleged that her estranged husband was a deviant, who took drugs and, in private, dressed like a woman.
