The delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 is undoubtedly a bummer, at least in the short term. But now that the wait is longer, you can try out more of the innumerable great games inspired by the classic crime franchise. One such game is American Fugitive, a top-down thrill ride set in the American South of the 1980s.
Following a prison escape, protagonist Will Riley must keep his head low as he attempts to find the real killer of his father. But, of course, the outside world is full of temptation and watchful eyes. Like GTA, committing crimes and getting caught will result in the police coming after you. The more chaos you cause, the more police forces will chase you. Furthermore, American Fugitive features destructible environments. Drive over a fence or a hedge and it will realistically break apart. Cars also feature some physics, bucking and crashing with some realism as you drive into obstacles (or police cars). The free update State of Emergency adds Army vehicles and weapons.
Between main story missions, you can undertake plenty of criminal activities, like fencing fine art, breaking into houses, or robbing stores at gunpoint. Stunt jumps and time trial challenges are also littered throughout the open world. Like the best crime games, American Fugitive has a high marker for chaos.
American Fugitive is on sale for $3.99 until May 12. You can buy it on Steam.
