Honda To Launch Electric Cafe Racer Soon in China, To Be Called Honda E-VO | BikeDekho TechTricks365

It has been homologated, and is set to be launched in the Chinese market soon

Quick HIghlights –

Wuyang- Honda is a China based joint venture which produced the U-Go electric scooter for the Chinese market. Now the brand is all set to launch its first electric bike code named WH8000D. It was homologated recently, and might be called the Honda E-VO, as suggested in the fairing stickers. The e-bike gets a cafe racer style design language which makes it look quite interesting and a lot different from every other Honda EV. The design looks pretty premium, and the overall stance of the motorcycle is sporty. Other than this, the fairing has neatly accommodated the battery packs without looking odd.

The WH8000D will be available in 2 variants which get the same 8kW electric motor. The lighter variant which weighs 143kg (kerb) is capable of a claimed top speed of 109kmph. While the heavier variant which weighs 156kg (kerb) can get up to 121kmph (claimed). It’s pretty evident from the difference in kerb weight that the variants will get battery packs in two different capacities, along with a suitably tuned motor. The  top speed figures are also generous enough for everyday commutes, and are comparable with 125cc petrol powered motorcycles. Along with this, the e-bike is expected to get a swappable battery setup similar to the Activa e:, which would make it a lot more convenient to charge.

The E-VO gets a chassis mounted motor unlike the hub mounted one which we usually see. It gets an inverted fork and rear monoshock along with disc brakes at both ends. It also gets single-channel ABS for added safety. In terms of proportions the E-VO is slightly bigger than the Honda Navi we used to get in India. The e-bike gets a 16-inch front and a 14-inch rear wheel setup with 110/70 and 140/70 size tires.

BikeDekho Says

The Wuyang-Honda E-VO or WH8000D is one of the most unique-looking products that Honda has made so far.  It‘ll be ideal for young buyers who are looking for a premium looking, sporty electric motorcycle with high levels of quality.

If India were as open to niche segments like China, it would’ve been the perfect modern avatar of the Honda Navi. However, things are different in our EV segment, so Honda won’t be launching it here. But not all hope is lost as Honda is developing a commuter-oriented electric bike specifically for the Indian market, but its launch is still a few years away.
