Two new 500cc bikes and 10 new electric two-wheelers in development
Honda Motorcycle And Scooter India is gearing up to expand its presence in the Indian two-wheeler market with several new models set to arrive in the coming years. From an adventure scooter, a cruiser, two new 500cc bikes, and 10 new electric two-wheelers, the company has big plans for India between 2025 and 2027.
New 500cc Motorcycles
The Japanese manufacturer is working on two new 500cc motorcycles as well, codenamed the MLHJ and MLWA. They both could get an all new, air-cooled, single-cylinder 500cc engine; as the parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 471cc engine from the NX500 will make the price of these bikes much higher. These motorcycles are expected to arrive sometime between 2026 and 2027. They could be priced at the Rs 2.50 lakh mark, filling the gap between Royal Enfield’s 350cc and 650cc bikes. The 350s are priced around the Rs 2-2.50 lakh point and the 650s in the Rs 3-3.50 lakh range (all prices ex-showroom).
160cc Adventure Scooter
One of the upcoming launches could be the Honda adventure style maxi-scooter codenamed the K4LA. It might be based on the ADV 160 sold abroad, which is powered by a 157cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 16.22PS and 14.7Nm. The scooter has a 780mm seat height, 133kg kerb weight, and 165mm of ground clearance. It also comes with single-channel ABS, LED lighting, a digital dash, an adjustable windscreen, and a USB charging port. It could be launched sometime in 2026 and it is expected to be priced at around Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Yamaha Aerox, the recently launched Hero Xoom 160, and the Aprilia SXR 160.
Electric Two-Wheelers
The manufacturer recently entered the electric scooter market in India with the launch of the Activa e: and QC1 at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Now, rumors suggest that they are working on as many as ten new EV models, which will be launched in the next five years, and four of these could arrive between 2025 and 2027. These upcoming EVs will likely be a mix and match of ones with swappable batteries like the Activa e:, and fixed ones like the QC1. One of these two-wheelers could likely be a commuter bike with a 4kWh battery pack, for comparison, the Revolt RV400 has a capacity of 3.24kWh. Honda says it will be comparable to petrol powered 100cc bikes. India will serve as a key manufacturing hub for Honda’s global EV models as they will be setting up a dedicated factory for electric two-wheelers here by 2028.
Rebel 300
Honda is also preparing to launch the Rebel 300, a bobber-style cruiser that shares its 286cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with the CB300R. It has a 690mm seat height and a kerb weight of 170kg, both of these figures are much lesser than its main rival, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. In the USA, the price of the CB300R and Rebel 300 is the same. If Honda localizes its production in India, the price tag could stay competitive, at Rs 2.40 lakh. It could be launched here by 2026 or 2027.
BikeDekho Says
With several upcoming launches, Honda is set to strengthen its position in India’s two-wheeler market with models like an adventure scooter likely based on the ADV 160, the Rebel 300, new 500cc motorcycles, and 10 electric two-wheelers. All these efforts reflect the brand’s effort to expand beyond the commuter bike and scooter segment. However, Honda has historically priced its motorcycles higher than competitors, often resulting in poor sales. The CB300R, for instance, had to undergo a price cut after launch to boost demand, but its initial high price had already impacted its success. If Honda wants to attract a wider customer base and perform better in these new segments, it needs a more competitive pricing strategy to ensure stronger sales and long-term growth.
