Honda’s new electric scooter, the Activa e:, is now out at dealerships across the country. It was introduced at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 for Rs. 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Honda’s foray into the electric two-wheeler segment.
Honda is going to make 100,000 units of the Activa e: in 2025. Interestingly, 99% of the parts are locally sourced, promoting the “Make in India” campaign. It is manufactured at Honda’s Narsapura plant in Karnataka. This is a strategy to keep prices low and also to achieve on-time deliveries.
Striking Design and Variants
The Activa e has a Pearl Igneous Black colour, which makes it look sporty. It is available in two variants: Standard and RoadSync. The Standard variant is available at Rs. 1.17 lakh, while the RoadSync variant is priced at Rs. 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom). The RoadSync variant also features high-end connectivity options.
Battery and Charging
The scooter features two 1.5kWh swappable batteries and a combined capacity of 3kWh. Honda has an estimated range of 102 km on one charge, but the batteries are not rechargeable at home. Customers are expected to top off their batteries at Honda’s battery swapping points. This practice is intended to minimise charging time and eliminate range anxiety.
The Honda Activa e comes with an electric motor mounted on the swingarm, which produces a peak output of 6kW. It takes 7.3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 km/h. Three modes are available: Eco, Standard, and Sport. The top speed is 80 km/h, which is appropriate for urban commutes.
Battery Swapping Network Expansion
Honda will have a widespread battery-swapping network. Stations are to be available within a 5 km radius in large cities. As of now, there are more than 85 swapping stations in Bengaluru. The network will spread to other cities before the Activa e: is made available in large quantities.
