Mumbai Indians won their first Women’s Premier League 2025 title when they defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in a closely contested match. After the win, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur could be seen posing for the same kind of celebratory photos that Rohit Sharma did after winning the T20 World Cup last year.

Notably, Harmanpreet can be seen posing with the WPL trophy in her Mumbai Indians jersey in a picture that has since gone viral on social media.

Remember, Rohit Sharma had also posed with the T20 World Cup trophy on his bedside after winning the marquee event last year.

Notably, even Rohit’s celebration was inspired by Argentine legend Lionel Messi, who had posted a picture of himself hugging the 2022 FIFA World Cup trophy on his bed with the message “Buen día”, which translates to “Good Day”.

What did Harmanpreet say about winning WPL 2025?

Speaking at the post match presentation, Harmanpreet said, “It is a great team effort. Congrats to Delhi for the way they played; it was not easy for us. When you win, you are really happy. We didn’t start well, but being there and doing the right things was important,”

“It wasn’t easy when I went to bat. I had the belief that if I could rotate the strike, when Nat is there, I don’t need to take too much pressure. She was in great touch and was doing it for the team. We tried to keep it simple and easy; we took calculated risks, and that helped us in the partnership,” the MI skipper added.

Mumbai Indians skipper led from the front during the match as she scored 66 runs off 44 balls and helped MI set a total of 149. In reply, Delhi got close to the total but remained just shy of getting their first WPL trophy by 8 runs.
