The games.apple.com domain could lead to the launch of a dedicated Games app
A games subdomain popping up on the Apple website strongly hints that Apple’s dedicated Games app could appear during the upcoming WWDC 2025 keynote.
The WWDC 2025 keynote is happening on June 9, and in the hours before it takes place, hints at what could appear start to surface. One discovery directly points to something gaming related.
A subdomain for games.apple.com is live, but blank, on the Apple website. We know it is a partially in use subdomain because it displays a blank page, versus a 404 or other no-content message.
This indicates that Apple has some intention to use the subdomain, but it is blank for the moment.
A gaming push
Apple has been making more of an effort to encourage games to be developed for its platforms, but WWDC could see its biggest push yet.
One long-time rumor has been the existence of a Games app, a dedicated version of the App Store app that replaces the existing Games tab in the digital storefront.
Current speculation is that the standalone Games app will have tabs including Home, Arcade, Play Together, and Search. The storefront will include both Apple Arcade and third-party titles.
AppleInsider will be offering up-to-the-minute coverage and insights for Apple’s biggest software event of the year, from the Keynote to the end of the week.
