Hyper Light Breaker publisher Arc Games and Phoenix Point developer Snapshot Games have announced a video game adaptation of the popular dungeon-crawling tabletop game Frosthaven, and you could get a chance to try it out next week.
During today’s Future Games Show, the two studios unveiled the game, which serves as a followup to the 2017 game Gloomhaven (and which, indeed, was designed by the same mind behind that game, Isaac Childres).
Snapshot Games’ name is a pretty big deal; it’s the studio founded by X-COM (as it was then known) creator Julian Gollop back in 2013. So far, the studio has released two games in Chaos Reborn and Phoenix Point; Frosthaven will be its first tabletop adaptation.
The Frosthaven video game will feature both single-player and co-op multiplayer, and it’ll also allow you to choose from several difficulty modes tailored to your skill level. There’s also a tutorial and a series of introductory quests to get you familiarized with Frosthaven.
When it launches in Early Access, Frosthaven will boast over 35 quests across two acts, but Snapshot and Arc’s plan is eventually to implement over 130 quests for the finished game.
Frosthaven will give you the chance to choose between six playable classes, all of which have their own “unique abilities and playstyle”, according to Snapshot and Arc. The game takes place across a series of “diverse biomes, changing seasons, and dynamic environments”.

If you’d like to get the chance to try out Frosthaven, then you’ll be pleased to know that a closed beta test will be held between March 27th and April 24th. The beta will feature all six playable classes across 20 quests, and you can sign up via the official Frosthaven website to get a chance to join.
Frosthaven doesn’t yet have a release date, but when it does launch, it’s coming to PC via Steam. Stay tuned for more.
