The Thruxton 400 gets a cafe racer fairing, inspired by the bigger capacity Triumph Thruxton RS 1200

Quick News Highlights

  • In India, The Triumph Thruxton 400 has been spied earlier as well

  • Gets the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 40PS & 37.5Nm

  • This time it also had tank grips, which may be offered as an optional accessory

We have exclusively spotted the upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400. The cafe racer was being tested on the roads of Pune, Maharashtra. Based on the Triumph’s 400cc platform, the Thruxton 400 gets a cafe racer fairing, inspired by the bigger capacity Triumph Thruxton RS 1200 which gets the Dolphin fairing as an additional accessory.

The Triumph Thruxton 400 has a frame-mounted headlight cowl with a round headlight. The bike also gets bar-end mirrors and a clip-on handlebar, which provides a committed riding posture. The side panels, tail section and exhaust look similar to the Triumph Speed 400. However, the fuel tank design looks slightly different from the Speed 400 and this time, the bike also featured tank grips, which may be offered as an optional accessory and look similar to the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.

The Triumph Thruxton 400 is based on the same platform as the Speed 400 and is powered by the same 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 40PS and 37.5Nm. But, we expect the engine to be slightly tuned to suit the sporty characteristics of the Thruxton 400. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. It may also get the same semi-digital instrument cluster as the Speed 400.

The 400cc cafe racer is likely to have the same underpinnings, brakes and other components as the Speed 400. It is expected to be equipped with a 43mm inverted fork and a gas-charged preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc with a radial calliper and a 230mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped with 110-section front and 150-section rear tubeless tyres.
