Quick News Highlights:

  • KTM 390 SMC R spied testing in India Again

  • Could be priced around Rs 3.3 lakh (ex-showroom)

  • Launch possible by end of this year

The KTM 390 SMC R has been spotted testing in India once again. It is the supermoto version of the 390 Enduro R, and check out the key details revealed in the spy shots.

Design

The supermoto shares much of its DNA with the 390 Enduro, but with modifications that cater to road focused performance. Just like a traditional supermoto, it gets a tall stance, a wide handlebar, a minimalistic headlight, and a high-mounted beak style front mudguard. The rear gets grab rails for the pillion and a saree guard – to comply with Indian regulations. Both these components are not seen on the global version.

Engine

The SMC R will be powered by the same 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the 390 Adventure, Adventure X, and the upcoming Enduro R. It makes 45PS, 39Nm, and is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Underpinnings

In terms of suspension, the 390 SMC gets an inverted fork – adjustable for compression and rebound, and monoshock adjustable for rebound and preload. Both will have 230mm of wheel travel, similar to the Enduro. The test mule was also seen with 17-inch spoke wheels, likely to be tubeless. The tyres are road-biased, with the front likely being a 110-section unit, and a 150-section at the rear. In terms of brakes, it will get discs at both ends – 320mm at the front and 240mm at the rear, with dual-channel ABS. Additionally, it gets a seat height of 860mm, ground clearance of 270mm, fuel tank capacity of 9-litres, and a dry weight of 154kg (all specifications as per the international model).

Features

It will have similar features as the Enduro R, and gets all the basics right – a TFT console with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, all-LED lighting, among others. It will also get three ride modes: Street, Sport, and Rain. In addition to this, it will get adjustable footpegs, brake and clutch levers. The ABS will get a Supermoto mode as well – which will switch off only the rear ABS.

Launch And Price

While KTM has not officially confirmed, it will likely be launched this month or the next. And it is expected to be priced around Rs 3.3 lakh (ex-showroom) – same as the upcoming 390 Enduro R.

BikeDekho Says

The KTM 390 SMC R will be the first locally manufactured sub-500cc supermoto bike in India. It will be a unique offering for those who want a fun motorcycle that can handle the urban roads – good or bad.
