Akshaya Tritiya, an auspicious day in the Hindu and Jain calendars, is being celebrated across the country on Wednesday.
It is considered highly auspicious to buy gold and silver on this day.
The word ‘Akshaya’ means ‘that which never diminishes,’ leading to the belief that purchasing precious metals on this occasion brings eternal prosperity.
So, despite skyrocketing gold and silver prices, it was no surprise to see people across the country flocking to jewellery stores. Many were aware they had to adjust their expectations, but that didn’t deter them.
