Delightful, overlooked dice roguelike expands with a colossal meta-progression update TechTricks365

I’m always on the lookout for inventive, under-the-radar roguelikes, and I’ve just found one. With a focus on building overpowered dice combos, Rollscape has been quietly enjoying its time on Steam since 2024. But now it’s just had its third major update, which is positively packed with content that reshapes how you play. So if you’re looking for a new roguelike to try, Rollscape is absolutely for you.

Rollscape is all about your score. You start with a limited number of dice rolls, with each dropping tiles on the floor that give you points. You can then spend those points to upgrade your tiles, enhance future rolls, and climb as far as possible. Like the best roguelike games, however, there are synergies to unlock and choices to make that shape your strategy – if you make the wrong ones and run out of rolls, it’s time to start from scratch.

If that intrigues you as much as it did me, then I’ve got great news. Developer Leonardo the Vinchy has just dropped Rollscape’s third major update, and it completely transforms how you play. For starters, there’s loads of new meta-progression with a massive reward tree, mechanics, and ideas to help you get through the game. There are also more than 50 game modifiers to collect, all of which vastly change not just how you win, but how you play in the first place.

You can also unlock a plethora of brand-new dice, like the D20, which can hugely influence your rolls and how you decide to try and beat the game. You’ll also find new locations and artifacts as you progress, which offer tough decisions and specific bonuses, meaning your synergies can take on many new forms.

There’s even a new Trials roguelite adventure feature and a battle pass (although Leonardo the Vinchy stresses this has no microtransactions), which you’ll need to progress through to get a lot of the new features. You’ll also find loads of dice and tile skins with effects, alongside some completely new game mechanics that Leonardo the Vinchy is careful not to spoil. You can also try a free-play mode, if you’d like to take the pressure off.

If that sounds like a lot, it is. Rollscape has been expanded from the ground up to feature an avalanche of new content, whether it’s baked into the core experience or available as an extra feature on the side.

Leonardo the Vinchy has released the new Rollscape update alongside a 30% off sale, so you can expect to pay $5.59 / £4.68 until Saturday April 19. Just go here.
