The death toll due to unseasonal rains and thunderstorms in Gujarat has risen to 18, after four more persons perished in rain-related incidents across the state, government sources said, Wednesday.
The three deaths in Ahmedabad, Anand and Chotta Udepur districts on May 6 were due to uprooted trees falling on the victims. An additional death occurred in Dahod after a wall collapsed.
Apart from the 18 deaths in the state, 38 persons have been injured in rain related incidents. A total of 117 cattle have perished in thunderstorms that have been hitting the state since May 4. Over 1300 kutcha and pucca houses have also been fully or partially damaged in the rains.
