What is the next Dead by Daylight Chapter? New chapters arrive in Dead by Daylight every three months, and it can be difficult to keep up with the new characters, maps, and more. Luckily, these updates arrive on a fairly rigid schedule, so we can usually look forward to the next DBD chapter before we even know what it is.
With so much additional content, it’s incredible that Behaviour Interactive is able to come up with new perks and powers for the latest DBD killers and survivors. The last Dead by Daylight character to enter The Fog was the iconic Ken Kaneki of Tokyo Ghoul, bringing hordes of anime fans to the horror game for the first time. Next, even more are set to descend upon The Entity’s Realm when another legendary crossover arrives with the long-awaited DBD Five Night’s at Freddy’s chapter.
DBD Springtrap PTB
The FNAF PTB is expected to go live in early June, with the full chapter rollout to follow later that month.
We initially expected the PTB to go live in May given the chapter’s June release date, as there is usually at least three weeks between the PTB and the chapter. However, in a reply to a tweet regarding the FNAF chapter, Behaviour community director Eric Pope seems to confirm an early June PTB.
In response to a question about the next livestream, Pope says “no date yet, probably early June.” Someone then asks, “Isn’t the PTB May 28th? What’s the point [in the livestream coming later]?”, to which Pope replies, “The PTB is when the livestream is.” While this is later than we hoped, there have been changes to the DBD chapter schedule recently, with more to be expected.
DBD FNAF release date
As announced during the 9th anniversary stream live at PAX, the Dead by Daylight FNAF chapter release date is set for June 2025. While no survivor character is arriving with Chapter 36, there is a new killer, Springtrap, and a new map, the iconic Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria.
Five Night’s at Freddy’s chapter details
Speaking with us before the big reveal, DBD game designer Jason Guzzo spoke about bringing the “essence” of the legendary franchise to the multiplayer game. “We tried our best to be authentic in terms of taking the core experience of FNAF games and the FNAF experience and DBD and marry those things. What would a FNAF game be if you were a monster wandering the halls?”
When we asked about whether he was able to bring FNAF’s legendary jumpscares to DBD, Guzzo continues, “Yes. I wanted to explore some ideas in terms of the survivor experience in DBD, which isn’t something we get to do too often. We felt like, with FNAF, it was such a vital part of the experience being that ‘survivor’ that we wanted to try to bring that over and give fans what they expect, not just playing as [Springtrap], but against him.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be FNAF without the legendary pizzeria. As you can see in the image above, the location fits perfectly into The Entity’s realm. Guzzo tells us, “While the chapter won’t be introducing a new survivor, we couldn’t justifiably bring Five Nights at Freddy’s into The Fog without the ultra iconic Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizzeria.
“We took a lot of inspiration not only from the games but also from the movie, and tried to pack it full of easter eggs, and surprises, and fun little scares for survivors to experience while they’re being chased by Springtrap.” He boasts, “The map is awesome. It is easily becoming one of my favorite maps, it’s so, so much fun.”
New killer powers and perks
The FNAF chapter is the first time players get the chance to step into the shoes of Springtrap, given that the killer is the protagonist in their own games. To bring the FNAF “essence” to DBD, designers of course came up with three new perks and a power for Springtrap. We don’t know the details yet, but we’ll update you when we do!
How to download and play the DBD PTB
To download the latest DBD PTB on Steam:
- Right-click on the game in your Steam library
- Click on ‘Properties’
- Open the ‘Betas’ tab
- Select the ‘public-test’ from the beta participation drop-down menu
- Redownload the game
Your progress is saved from the base version of Dead by Daylight, and any spent Bloodpoints, Bloodweb progression, and unlocked characters are reset to your last saved point when you return to the release version.
