Suzuki has launched the 2025 Suzuki GSX-8R in India with an OBD-2B compliant engine at Rs 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated motorcycle complies with the latest emission regulations, with no mechanical or cosmetic changes.
Engine
The GSX-8R continues to be powered by a 776cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that makes 81PS at 8,500rpm and 78Nm at 6,800 rpm. This motor is also found on the V-Strom 800 DE, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox and includes a bi-directional quickshifter, allowing for clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
Design
In terms of design, the GSX-8R gets vertically stacked LED headlights, a small windscreen, and clip-on handlebars. The motorcycle is offered in three colour options: Metallic Triton Blue, Metallic Matte Sword Silver, and Metallic Matte Black No.2.
Underpinnings
The bike rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with Dunlop RoadSport 2 radial tyres. It uses a Showa Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) inverted fork and a link-type monoshock at the rear with a preload adjuster. Braking is handled by dual 310 mm discs at the front with four-piston radially-mounted calipers, and a 240 mm disc at the rear with a single-piston caliper.
Features
The Suzuki GSX-8R comes equipped with a 5-inch full-colour TFT console, three engine power modes, Traction Control System with four adjustable levels, a ride-by-wire electronic throttle, low RPM assist to prevent stalling at low speeds, and dual-channel ABS.
BikeDekho Says
While the OBD-2B upgrade keeps the GSX-8R compliant with the latest emission norms, Suzuki missed an opportunity to enhance the bike in some aspects. The addition of Bluetooth connectivity and grippier tyres would have made the motorcycle even more appealing. Not having connectivity in such a premium bike is a big miss in our opinion. The Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres are not very confidence-inspiring, especially on roads that aren’t very smooth.
