BMW Motorrad unveiled a teaser for its next-generation sportbike concept, “The Quest for the Speed of Light.” The teaser presents a shadowy image of an aggressive-looking and sleek motorcycle. This suggests a design like the S 1000 RR but with unique characteristics. Other than this, the world premiere is on May 23, and the India launch could happen later this year. Let’s learn more about this new BMW bike.
New Chapter in BMW’s Sportbike Lineup
The teaser shows a motorcycle with a flat-topped fuel tank, fresh fairing layouts, and an unusual tail section, different from the present S 1000 RR. Rumours indicate it may be an all-new track-only bike or a high-end version of the S 1000 RR. If it’s a track-oriented model, anticipate liberal use of carbon fibre and top-end suspension and brake hardware.
Design Elements Hint at Track-Only Focus
The outline in the teaser implies a fully faired motorcycle, a chunky tank, and a short tail unit. The indication is towards a track-biased design, perhaps a successor to the HP4 Race, a track-exclusive, low-volume version of the S 1000 RR launched in 2017. The HP4 Race had extensive carbon fibre bodywork and delivered 212 bhp with 120 Nm of torque.
