The Bharat Mobility Global Expo formerly known as Auto Expo was earlier planned to be organised every year but now, it is reportedly reverted to a biennial format (once in every two years). This means the Expo is coming back to India only in February 2027.
The biggest advantage of the new format is that it will give manufacturers more time to develop their upcoming products and plan better.
Although the Auto Expo has moved to a biennial format, the structure will reportedly be similar to what we had seen at Auto Expo 2025. It’s likely that the event will be hosted in 3 locations, India Auto Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and Yashobhoomi in Dwarka.
Developing brand new products or even concepts for that matter are an extremely time-consuming and resource-intensive process. Organising the expo every year would mean the manufacturers will have very little time to showcase something that’s good enough to grab the attention of the consumer.
Moreover, expos in general is facing decreasing interest from the general public and many have started scaling down the events and switching to online-only modes. This is with the advent of cheaper internet and easier accessibility to smartphones and social media, making it easy to enjoy content from the comforts of home (or wherever you are). Moreover, organising an expo is a costly affair, and more often than not, manufacturers find it difficult to balance the expenses with sales leads directly coming from the event.
Overall, we are quite optimistic as Auto Expo 2027 could hold a lot of surprises, especially with the growing industry – both in the petrol-powered segment as well as alternative fuel space. Now with the emphasis of quality over quantity, we can expect the 2027 Auto Expo to be an action-packed one.
