The family scooter has been outperforming the performance scooter from the brand, well at least in terms of sales

Quick News Highlights

  • Ather Rizta sells over 1 lakh units since its launch in June 2024

  • It now contributes about 60% of Ather Energy’s total sales

  • Rizta is the family oriented scooter from the brand as compared to the sporty 450 line-up

Bengaluru-based Ather Energy has crossed the 1 lakh unit retail sales milestone for its family scooter, the Rizta, in just under a year after it went on sale in June 2024. The Ather Rizta was unveiled in April 2024 and was launched in June (deliveries started in the same month), and has quickly become the best-selling product in Ather’s lineup. Since deliveries ramped up in the second quarter of FY25 (July to September 2024), the scooter has helped Ather grow its market share across the country in various regions.

Ather Rizta Sales

In April 2025 alone, the Rizta accounted for 10,052 units, which is a massive 73.57% of sales out of Ather’s 13,663 total sales figure for the month. And, according to these latest figures, the milestone was crossed in early May after 99,691 units had already been sold by the end of April. These sales figures are as per the data from SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers).

What Is The Rizta?

Ather attributes much of the Rizta’s success to its family-focused design and strong feature list. It offers a respectable 34-litre under-seat storage, a spacious seat which Ather says is the biggest of any scooter sold in India, and a large floorboard. Buyers can choose between two battery options: 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh that offer claimed ranges of up to 123km and 159km, respectively. All variants support charging via Ather’s growing fast-charging network, with over 3,600 chargers now installed across India and some neighbouring countries.

Features

It gets several features that include SkidControl (Ather’s fancy word for Traction Control), Magic Twist (Regenerative Braking), Reverse mode, AutoHold (Hill Hold Assist), Bluetooth connectivity, live location sharing, Google Maps integration, alerts for theft and towing.

BikeDekho Says

While the Rizta shares some components with Ather’s performance-focused 450 series, it targets a broader audience and has helped the company become one of the top five electric two-wheeler brands in India, as per sales data from Q4 FY25. Looking ahead, Ather is expanding production capacity and plans to introduce more updates to the Rizta through over-the-air (OTA) software upgrades. More importantly, the company is working on cheaper electric scooters which could launch by March 2026, read more about it here.
